Like most people, you want to “buy smart” when purchasing new furniture. One of the wisest moves you can make is to find a reputable furniture store and a knowledgeable salesperson who can give you the direction and support you need. Working together, you’ll find furniture that offers the value and style you want. Just follow these simple ABC’s. Ask questions and answer a few. It is the retailer rather than the manufacturer who you are most likely to turn to after you purchase your furniture. Bring along any fabrics that will be staying in the room as well as the colors of walls and floor. These help immensely when choosing new colors and patterns for the room. Brainstorm on a general budget and a buying plan. If possible, take along a diagram of the room or rooms to help the salesperson visualize the space. Indicate arrangement of pieces already in the room; note the location of the windows and doors as well as the floor to ceiling height. Consider the alternatives. You may be selecting for one area now, and the furniture may be used in another later. How do you use the space you are filling? The more open you are with the salesperson, the more help she can be to you, so be prepared to provide pertinent information.
